Is this course for me?

If you are an electrical installation professional wishing to update your knowledge, skills and qualifications, this is the course for you. This course is the legal minimum requirement (BS7671:2008 regulations) for electrical installation professionals. You will preferably have practical work-based electrical experience. Before enrolling on the course you will be required to take a short assessment of your numeracy and literacy.

What will I study?

You will learn through discussions, question and answer sessions and presentations using CDs and DVDs. At the end of the course you will take a PC-based multiple choice test and will have the results instantly printed out.

Topics you will cover include:

  • definitions of key terms
  • assessment of general characteristics of electrical installations
  • protection for safety
  • selection and erection of equipment
  • inspection and testing to meet the standards of the IEE wiring regulations
  • special installations or locations.

On successful completion of this qualification, you will be equipped with the understanding needed to carry out various tasks safely, in both residential and industrial environments. You will also be able to progress to the electrical wiring inspection and testing course.
