Advanced diploma
Two-years, level three

The diploma will focus on the work, values, attributes and attitudes of the health, care, justice, children and young people sectors. You will learn how these people work to care for and support individuals, families, groups and communities. You will develop and understanding of the range of rewarding career opportunities that exist across the four sectors.
Required qualifications
Five or more A*-C grades at GCSE including English language and mathematics. Students can also progress to the course from the higher diploma.
What will I study?
The course will focus on:
- exploring the different career paths in the sector
- understanding the principles and values underpinning the professions
- how different services fit together
- numeracy, communication and ICT skills.
On the course you will:
- have the opportunity to be mentored by a professional working in your chosen field
- complete a project on a topic of your choice
- complete activities with students from local schools and colleges
- benefit from workshops from speakers from linked organisations
- undertake first aid, food hygiene and health and safety training
- have the opportunity to combine the diploma with an A-level or vocational course.
Method of assessment
Assessment will be through a combination of assignments, projects and examinations.
What will I be able to progress to?
You will be able to progress to a range of degree courses including those leading to social work, nursing, health professions and teaching. You might also wish to gain further training or employment either within a health or social care setting or you might choose to use your transferable skills in a different sector.
