Level 2 BTEC Diploma (BTEC first diploma)
One-year, level 2
students

Using the multimedia suite, you will learn how to make a film, record a CD and design posters and adverts. To support your practical work you will study television history and careers in the media and the music industry. You will also visit a variety of cinemas, television companies and radio stations.

Required qualifications

Successful completion of a broad GCSE programme, including two A*-D grades in relevant subjects, plus a good school reference. Strong writing skills are desirable.

  • producing advertisements.

On the course you will:

  • take part in practical work
  • make your own short film
  • develop your written and numeracy skills

Method of assessment

You will complete a portfolio including practical and written work.

What will I be able to progress to?

This course is excellent preparation for advanced level programmes such as the national diploma in media or the creative and media diploma. You may also progress to work in a range of media-related roles such as production, multimedia and desktop publishing.
