Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma
Two-years (equivalent to three A-levels)
students

This programme will equip you with the skills and understanding required to succeed in a range of business roles. In the second year you will have the opportunity to specialise in an area of your choice including accounting, administration or marketing.

Required qualifications

Four or more A*–C grades at GCSE and a grade D in mathematics or English language. Or a full level two pass in a related subject plus two other GCSEs at grade C or above. Entry requirements for students currently studying an intermediate vocational course will be based on their performance at intermediate level.

What will I study?

The course will focus on:

  • business and management
  • business enterprise
  • conducting business online.

In the second year you will select an area to focus on:

  • business and accounting
  • business and administration
  • business and marketing.

On the course you will:

  • develop employability skills
  • complete assignments based on workplace situations
  • build upon analytical and evaluative skills
  • visit and study local, national and international business organisations.

Method of assessment

Assessment is through completion of internally assessed coursework.

What will I be able to progress to?

After completing the course you will be well-equipped to pursue study or employment in a range of areas including marketing, management, human resources or accounting. Tyron Goodman (ex-Royal Docks Community School) achieved a triple distinction for this course and is now studying accounting and finance at the University of Greenwich.

Students recently took part in a European Business Exchange working on launching a range of products in the UK for German companies. The students travelled to Germany to present their ideas to the companies.
