BTEC double national award
Two-years, (equivalent to two A-levels)
Through a range of investigations into real life organisations you will explore the fascinating world of business and the use of ICT in the sector. You will develop skills to help prepare you for training, education or employment in the field of business and ICT. If you are interested in business and would like a practical approach to learning, this course will really suit you.
Required qualifications
Four or more A*-C grades at GCSE or a full level two pass in a related subject plus two other GCSEs at grade C or above. Entry requirements for students currently studying an intermediate vocational course will be based on their performance at intermediate level. Depending on your GCSE grades, you may also take an AS/A-level alongside this course.
What will I study?
The course will focus on:
- investigating people at work
- investigating business
- electronic business
- the information age
- the digital economy.
On the course you will:
- carry out investigations into a number of local businesses
- investigate how businesses work
- use the internet to research business information
- learn how to use a number of computer software packages
- develop your IT skills through the use of a variety of applications.
Method of assessment
Assessment is through completion of internally and externally assessed coursework.
What will I be able to progress to?
You can progress to a higher education course or employment in either the field of business or ICT such as general business management or business and information systems. Bernard Simpson (ex-Sir George Monoux College) passed this subject and is now studying business marketing management at the University of Southampton.
