One-year full-time, foundation level
This qualification has been designed to offer a broad introduction to the world of business. You will learn about how companies like McDonalds and KFC compete for customers and how organisations like Tesco treat their customers. You will develop personal skills and knowledge to help you progress to further courses and to employment in the business sector.
Required qualifications
You will sit a short test to assess your level of English, which will need to be at entry level 3 to study the course. You will need to have a reasonable grasp of English.
What will I study?
The course will focus on:
- starting work in business, retail and administration
- introducing customer service
- financial management
- health and safety at work.
On the course you will:
- carry out investigations into a number of local businesses
- investigate how businesses work
- take part in a two-week work experience placement
- use the internet to research business information.
Method of assessment
You will be assessed through coursework.
What will I be able to progress to?
You can progress to a range of vocational courses, including BTEC first diploma in business. Students who perform very strongly will be considered for progression to an advanced programme.
