Level 2 BTEC Diploma
One years, level 2
This challenging and interesting course will provide you with the skills and knowledge essential for a career working with people. You will learn how to provide the best possible service to people of all ages and with widely differing needs.
Required qualifications
Successful completion of a broad GCSE programme, including two A*- D grades in relevant subjects, plus a good school reference.
What will I study?
The course will focus on:
- communication and individual rights
- the needs of individuals within the health and social care sectors
- cultural diversity in health and social care
- lifespan development
- anatomy and physiology.
On the course you will:
- attend compulsory work placements with children and the elderly
- maintain a portfolio of evidence covering your experiences during the work placements
- work in teams to develop a variety of topics
- gain an extra qualification in counselling skills.
Method of assessment
Assessment is through completion of internally and externally assessed coursework.
What will I be able to progress to?
You can progress to a BTEC national diploma or the diploma in society, health and development before applying to higher education or going into employment.
Other information
You will be required to complete a Criminal Records Bureau form confirming that you have no criminal convictions that prevent you from working with children or vulnerable adults. This will cost approximately £40. It will be administered by the college at the start of the course.
