Level 3 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma (National Award)
Two-year vocational (equivalent to one A-level)
You will find this course challenging and interesting. The qualification will provide you with the knowledge, attitudes and skills which are essential in any career working with people. The course will prepare you to provide the best possible service and care to people of all ages and widely differing needs.
Required qualifications
Five or more A*-C grades at GCSE including English language.
What will I study?
The course will focus on:
- communicating with service users
- equality and diversity
- health and safety
- lifespan development
- public health.
On the course you will:
- take part in group discussions
- work in teams to research and develop a variety of topics
- build on your analytical and evaluative skills.
Method of assessment
Each year you will study three units which will be internally assessed.
What will I be able to progress to?
Many students continue to study nursing, social care and other health-related subjects at university. Depending on your other A-level choices the course will prepare you for a wide range of degree-level courses. You may choose to apply for a job or work experience within the health and social care sector.
Other information
You will be required to complete a Criminal Records Bureau form confirming that you have no criminal convictions that prevent you from working with children or vulnerable adults. This will cost approximately £40. It will be administered by the college at the start of the course.
Please note that you need to study this course for a full two years to gain the qualification.
