Volunteering
Many NewVIc students take part in volunteering both in the college and in the local community. This is a great way to make a contribution to the community and helps you to gain and develop useful skills.
Student ambassador
Students volunteer at college events to help with tours of the campus and welcoming visitors.
Carbolic magazine
Students work together with pupils from Lister Community School to write and produce an award-winning youth magazine, Carbolic.
Fundraising
Students and staff arrange fundraising to get the whole college involved in raising as much money as possible for the college’s chosen charities.
NewVIc enterprise
This scheme delivers exciting, practical, hands-on
business experience for budding entrepreneurs at the
college. Students gain insight into running a business
and pick up invaluable employment skills.
Student union
The student union promotes the interests of students and is run by students. It represents the student body at cross-college committees and on the governing body. Elections take place in June and all students are welcome to run for one of the leadership positions.
Student council
Representatives from each class meet with staff to pass on the views of their classmates. The council provides a direct channel for the student voice and ensures that the views of students are taken into account when developing the learning, the teaching and the college environment.
