NewVIc student selected for England U17 women's basketball squad

NewVIc business student Bianca Maxwell was recently chosen by England Basketball, as a new player for the exclusive New Horizons under-17 programme which is for just 26 players nationally.
Bianca was scouted at one of her East Side Eagles National League Women’s Basketball matches, whilst qualifying for the final 4’s tournament in Sheffield (where they placed third). She was identified as having potential to represent England at the 2013 European Championships.
Bianca will now attend two or three basketball camps with opportunities for international games in Poland for selected players in September.
Bianca said of her success: “This is a great opportunity to help me develop both physically and mentally. I’m really happy to have been selected from hundreds of potential players, and this will certainly help in my goal to achieve a full basketball scholarship to university in America next year, where I can continue playing basketball and studying business at the same time.”
Beth Harris, NewVIc’s sports academy manager, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Bianca and everyone at NewVIc is very proud of her. We’ll all be supporting her over the coming months and wishing her every success for her future.”
