NewVIc has sporting talent!

For many years we’ve known that NewVIc students possess a huge amount of raw sporting talent, but it certainly showed during a recent two-hour talent identification event looking for the next 2012 and 2016 Olympic hopefuls.
Thirty NewVIc students attended and were put through their paces by international coaches and former international athletes including Tessa Sanderson, Tony Jarrett, Ayo Falola, Greg Richards and Clarence Calendar. Between them the athletes they have won multiple Olympic, European and Commonwealth medals, and have coached some of Britain’s top international athletes over the last couple of decades!
Also in attendance were two coaches from the British Judo Association on the look out for students who may never have had the opportunity to try it before but posses a natural flare - our students’ certainly didn’t disappoint!
Twenty-six of the students impressed the coaches in one or more discipline and the NewVIc sports team are now arranging follow up activities with Tessa and her coaches. Watch this space over the coming months as we keep you posted on how these students are progressing.
