Going Red for Richard House Hospice

At the beginning of February staff and students showed their support for the college’s local charity of the year, Richard House Hospice.
The day was organised by BTEC national diploma in health and social care students. After watching a short film about the hospice in their tutorial, students were moved to raise as much as they could with the Go Red day.
Helen Lam, NewVIc youth activity leader, said: “When the students first heard about the Richard House Go Red campaign they were very excited about taking part. They came up with some great fundraising activities, and worked really hard to pull it all together, I’m really proud of them all!
“Staff and students wore red and donated money. They also raised money by selling cakes and somosas, held a guess the number of sweets in the jar competition, sold roses, painted nails red, collected 1p and 2p coins and held a raffle.”
The students’ hard work paid off as they managed to raise £420 for the hospice.
