Monitoring your child's progress

Working together to help your child learn, enjoy and achieve

NewVIc values the contribution that parents and carers can make in supporting young people at the college. We offer many opportunities for you to engage with staff at the college and get involved in your child’s education.

Personal tutor

Every NewVIc student has a personal tutor who they see on a regular basis. The tutor plays a key role in your child’s education. They will work together to plan your child’s learning and review his or her progress. They also offer support and guidance with other aspects of your child’s development, such as careers and extracurricular activities. If you would like to contact the college to discuss your child’s progress please call 020 7473 4110 and ask to speak to your child’s tutor.

Parent consultation evenings

Students review their progress with tutors throughout the year but reports are written and sent home in September (year 2 students), December and April. To coincide with these reports there are parent consultation evenings that we will invite you to. These evenings give you a chance to meet your child’s tutor and teachers. You can attend with or without your child.

Celebrating success

We think it is very important to celebrate student success throughout the year and you will see news stories on the website and in the local paper about the college’s students. We also display success stories on screens and noticeboards around the college and in local schools to inspire other stduents and younger pupils.
We hold events to celebrate student success. If your son or daughter receives a commendation from the college for their SF Bac award, you will be invited to attend our Annual Awards evening in October to see your child receive this award.
In addition, in the January following your child’s graduation from the college you will be invited to the college’s Presentation Evening to help us to celebrate your child’s success with their classmates and other parents and stakeholders.
