Welcome lunch (staff only)
The Welcome Lunch takes place in October and is an excellent opportunity for heads of Years 11 and 10, careers coordinators and gifted and talented coordinators to discuss all aspects of school liaison with NewVIc. We provide information about the student support available at the college, new developments in the curriculum as well as about the many extra-curricular opportunities that we offer. At the event you will have a chance to talk to our staff about any additional information and support you would like from NewVIc.
Assemblies
We can visit your school with current NewVIc students to introduce ourselves and the college within Year 11 and Year 10 assemblies. The assemblies focus on encouraging students to explore their options, visit college open days and work hard at their GCSEs to achieve results and progress.
Parents’ evenings and careers events within schools
We can attend Year 11, Year 10 and Year 9 parents’ evenings, career fairs and progression events in schools. The events offer students the opportunity to speak to our advice and guidance team and ask questions about the college and the courses that interest them.
NewVIc+
NewVIc+ is a programme of subject activities held within the college to encourage students to find out more about a variety of career areas such as medicine and engineering.
More information can be found here
Application surgeries
We are available to support your students with filling in their application forms. Application surgeries can be arranged as drop-in sessions at lunch time or after school or they can take place during lesson or tutor time.
Tours
We are able to run tours of the college for school groups. These are a great way for students and staff to find out more about the college.
Open Days
10 October 2009
13 March 2010
Our open days are the ideal chance for students to visit the college with their parents/guardians. They can find out more about courses and see for themselves the outstanding education and facilities at NewVIc.
We can provide your school with more information, leaflets and posters to advertise the events.
PHSE and tutor sessions
We can deliver a variety of workshops tailored to your needs. Workshops can be designed to support Year 11 students in choosing courses to study next year or motivate Year 10 students. These have proved to be successful in helping students to focus their ideas and have stimulated many interesting questions about career areas and the courses that we offer.
If you are interested in any of the above activities please contact our school and community liaison officer: Siân Owen sowen@newvic.ac.uk
