Becoming a Governor

Help make our great college even better - could you be a sixth form college governor?

Being a governor is a fascinating and rewarding role helping to support our College and challenge us to be even better.

We are ambitious, successful, vibrant, diverse and we want nothing but the best for our 2,500 students We offer a comprehensive range of A-level and vocational courses to 16 to 19 year olds in East London with excellent exam results. We also offer a uniquely broad student development and sports programme; often working with brilliant partners. Over 600 NewVIc students progress to university every year, including many to highly selective institutions and courses.

We have recently opened a £10 million building entirely self-funded and we remain in good financial health. Our most recent inspection judged us to be ‘good’ and we are working towards becoming outstanding. We really value the contribution of our governors and we are looking to broaden the skills base and increase the diversity of our members.

We welcome applications from anyone who has a strong commitment to education and young people and we are particularly keen to attract people who have experience in

  • managing major capital projects
  • finance
  • teaching, learning and assessment.
