Successful completion of a broad GCSE or equivalent programme, including a 9-4 grade in either English Language or Mathematics, and grade A*-D in another relevant subject, as well as a good school reference and an interest in Media.

Our media course offers you the opportunity to develop theoretical and practical skills needed for further study in this field. You will learn through a series of practical projects in film, photography, design and journalism using industry standard hardware and software.

  • design using software packages such as   Photoshop

  • make posters, adverts, trailers
  • research current industry practices and visit TV studios  and screenings

  • improve your communication skills
  • be offered opportunities for work-based learning and work experience

Method of Assessment

You will be internally assessed throughout the duration of this programme. Assessment is through practical projects. You will be expected to create a portfolio of Photography and design work and a showreel of moving image work.

Some students completing the Level 2 UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology will progress to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology, which is equivalent  to three A-levels (see page xx) while others may move on to apprenticeships or other training    schemes.

Other Information

Students on a Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma will also be studying towards Maths and/or English Level 2 qualifications (see page xx) if they have a grade 4 or below at GCSE. Students with Grade 5 and above in both Maths and English will undertake the Higher Project Qualification (see page xx) alongside their vocational qualification.
