The Skills Centre is used by most students in the college. Skills Centre staff offer extra help with your studies whatever level you have reached. Specialist staff can support you in all aspects of your programme. You may come for help in completing essays or assignments during the daily lunch-time drop-in sessions, or you may have a programme of support with literacy, numeracy or study skills.
The centre is a well-resourced, informal learning space with plenty of IT facilities to help you with your learning. During your induction, you will be introduced to the centre and discover how to get the support you need from staff and the learning materials available.
NewVIc offers a range of support workshops including:
English and literacy – Sessions help you work on developing the skills to complete your assignments to a high standard, whatever course you are on.
Information technology – Computer rooms will be available for you to develop your IT skills and to work on your assignments.
Mathematics and numeracy – You can join a mathematics workshop if you want help with your maths and numeracy in general, or with a particular assignment.
