Required qualifications

To be considered for the Technical Baccalaureate, you need to have five GCSEs (grades A*-C, including grade 6 in Maths and English).

Choose the Tech Bacc if you are ambitious and talented and want to pursue a technical career. It’s a valued way to recognise excellence in vocational education.



Course type

The Technical Baccalaureate has three components:
1. OCCUPATIONAL QUALIFICATION
Choose one of the qualifying courses shown below:
STEM industries (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) - Qualifying courses offered at NewVIc:
BTEC Extended Diploma in Electronic Engineering
BTEC Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment
BTEC Extended Diploma in IT
CREATIVE INDUSTRIES - Qualifying courses offered at NewVIc:
UAL Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology
UAL Extended Diploma in Art and Design
UAL Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts
SERVICE INDUSTRIES - Qualifying courses offered at NewVIc:
BTEC Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism
BTEC Extended Certificate in Law

2. MATHEMATICAL STUDIES (LEVEL 3)  OR A LEVEL
MATHEMATICS
DESIGNED TO DEVELOP YOUR
APPLIED MATHS SKILLS.

3. THE EXTENDED PROJECT

 


Tech Bacc gives you the opportunity to be stretched and develop the skills needed to be successful in your chosen technical discipline.
It equips you for successful transition to sought after technical roles or further
specialist study.
