Ability Counts Footballers Victorious

17/11/2017 - This week the NewVIc Ability Counts football team attended Essex FA’s first college sociability festival, held in the heart of Romford Essex.

The NewVIc squad exceeded all expectations from the first whistle, and blew away nearly all of the opposition that came in contact with the NewVIc blistering attack. After 6 games the Ability squad had won 4 (7-1 5-1 4-2 3-2), drawn 1 (2-2) and lost 1 (4-2) scoring 24 goals and conceding 11.

The tournament was played with great spirit and a friendly attitude towards one another, and a highlight from the event was playing against ex NewVIc student Travis Porter who has transferred to a neighbouring college.  The NewVIc students found it strange playing against old class mate Travis who was such a big influence over the years on NewVIc Ability Football squad.

Next week the Ability Counts squad head to UEL sports dock with the aim of qualifying for the 5th year running to represent London (along with our cricketers) at the AoC Sport National Championships.

NewVIc must overcome a number of colleges to continue this unique journey – good luck to all!
