Support with Clearing & UCAS 2023

We have put together some information for our college leavers on how they will receive results and can access career support services.

UCAS

UCAS stands for Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. It’s the centralised service that students use to apply to universities. If you are planning on applying to university you will need to complete a UCAS application. Your specialist and dedicated tutor will help advise you on which courses to apply for and will support you with completing your application.

The biggest aspect of your application is the personal statement. In this you must clearly explain why you are applying, why you want to study your chosen subject and why you would be a good candidate with relevant skills for the course. Your tutor will support you with this by giving constructive feedback and proofreading your drafts to make positive changes and to check for any obvious mistakes.

Principal’s column

how to write an outstanding personal statement

This statement is a chance for students to set themselves apart and show off their skills, ambitions, passions and personality.

Here are my top tips for students writing personal statements and what - if you are a supporting adult, you should be looking out for when asked to read it.”
