Foundation Learning students put on end of term Spring Show
The Foundation Learning Performing Arts Group’s treated students and staff to an end-of-term Spring Showcase – and what an incredible event it was!
Last term, the group focused on developing their musical skills and brought their learning to life by performing to a full house in the theatre. They showcased a range of original pieces spanning genres from performance poetry to rap and piano.
There were many standout moments throughout the event. A special mention goes to Tharif, who performed Let It Go on the piano, accompanied by Junior, Roland and Learning Support Practitioner Nordia. Tharif played the piece using his phone rather than standard notation, demonstrating his amazing visual mathematical ability.
In spoken word, Josiah delivered a moving original poem, Wavy Waterfalls, with a message about hope.
Junior impressed the audience with his vocal talent in a rap performance of The Evidence, followed by Yahye’s rendition of God’s Plan.
The showcase concluded with a grand finale - a collaborative piece where each student contributed a verse about what gave them the blues. Performed beautifully without a backing track, it was a powerful ending.
Adrian Bond, the group tutor, commented: “I attended all the rehearsals, but when it came to the final event, they were able to run the show independently. They were so confident, they didn’t need me!”
A huge thank you to the Performing Arts Group for sharing your musical learning journey with us - you smashed it!
Thanks also to the students from Barking & Dagenham College, who expertly managed the event lighting which elevated the performance visually.
