Last month, NewVIc hosted an Apprenticeship Fair which featured more than 17 London-based employers spanning a range of industries. Employers in attendance included the NHS, Eurostar International, Colas Rail UK, Lovell Partnership, Royal Signals CET, Royal Air Force and Higgins Partnerships, to name a few.

The event, held at the college, welcomed over 450 students, encompassing Foundation Learning, vocational and A Level students. Students had the opportunity to explore a wide array of apprenticeships available, understand the associated entry requirements and discuss their future options.

As a college, NewVIc wants to ensure that every young person, no matter their background or level of course, has the tools and support to reach their full potential and progress into employment or further learning.

Work Related Curriculum Team Leader, Dianne Steel who organised the event, said:

“The Work Related Curriculum Team is committed to ensuring our work experience opportunities are inclusive and accessible to all students possible. We were delighted to work with a host of employers to shine a spotlight on apprenticeships during the Apprenticeship Fair held during National Apprenticeship Week. We received great feedback from students and employers.”

NewVIc alumna and Early Careers Advisor for Colas Rail UK, Diana Talaia, added:

“It was great to be back at my former college where it all started for me. Talking to students about the opportunities that Colas Rail UK can offer young people who are considering an apprenticeship after their studies was fantastic. Colas Rail UK are Europe’s leading suppliers of railway infrastructure services and have constructed all forms of railways across Europe, so there are many opportunities in the UK and in Europe for students to explore.”
