On 28 February, NewVIc invited over 150 Year 10 students from Eastlea Community school to take part in a pilot project designed to build confidence and raise aspirations. The dynamic two hour session formed part of a day-long programme designed to help students explore college life, courses they could potentially study at NewVIc and to explore careers and their next steps.

NewVIc schools outreach team teamed up with Loudspeaker, who designed and delivered fun packed sessions which explored aspirations, setting and achieving your own personal goals, effective communications skills and how to find and use your own voice as a tool to progress.

Rich Allan Campbell, who grew up in east London, delivered two out of the three personal development sessions, shared his own personal story to motivate and challenge students to ‘own their own story.’ He said,

“Whatever the beginning of your journey, it doesn’t determine the end of your story. It might not be easy to achieve your goals - but keep going!

Every single one of you has a unique story. Think about who you are, what your strengths and weaknesses are and the support that you need to achieve your goals. Your future is too important. - you really can achieve anything if you set your mind to it.”

Lian Gray, Achievement Leader said:

“The day was invigorating, inspiring and full of energy. There were amazing facilities which provided an abundance of education and social interactions. It was a pleasure to visit NewVIc.”
